February Favourites

February Favourites

February has come and gone. How are we now in the third month of the year? We’re almost a quarter of the way through 2017. That blows my mind. It feels like I haven’t accomplished all that much other than eating and sleeping.

Last month I gave you my January favourites. This month I don’t have as many items as I don’t want to bore you with every tv show I’ve loved. Plus February is a short month. So here are just a few of my favourites.

1. Protein Bar | 2. Santa Clarita Diet  | 3. Sampha | 4. District23 Be Well | 5. Bubble Bath
6. Gym Class Magazine

If you’re a long time reader of this blog then you’ll know how I love my fitness routine. When it comes to snacking it’s really easy to throw the diet out the window. Trek protein flapjacks are some of the best I’ve ever tasted. They don’t taste chemical. You can’t taste the protein in them. Most protein bars are condensed and quite heavy to eat. These on the other hand are the opposite. I usually love the flapjack with just a small coating of chocolate. However this month the coconut ones are my go to snack when they are on offer.

Netflix seems to be dominating tv shows right now. The majority of shows on there are Netflix originals even if they air on network or cable tv in the United States. Earlier this month Santa Clarita Diet hit Netflix and it took a matter of hours to watch during a big ironing session (#adulting). I love anything with Drew Barrymore and this really showcases her dry sense of humour. It was easy to watch, comical and you don’t even have to be a zombie fan to enjoy it.

Music Monday is usually what Monday’s posts are on this blog but it’s always a culmination of my best finds of the past week. But this month I couldn’t pick just one song from Sampha’s album Process – I loved it all.

February 6th saw the launch of the new collection at District23. My favourite of the two designs released is the Be Well t-shirt. It’s also available in sweatshirts and women’s sizes too. International shipping is available so don’t let that put you off ordering.

It’s winter, it’s cold and it rains a lot here in the UK. Even though it’s getting lighter in the evenings I’ve been taking full advantage of it being dark by 6pm. That means a nice hot bath, some candles, a great smelling bubble bath and, most likely, the latest episode of The Bachelor as my go-to bath time entertainment. This banana bubble bath smells incredible. It reminds me of when you’re a kid and you’re given the banana medicine from the doctor. Ah nostalgia.

Finally, we come to the magazine of choice for the month. As I’m finishing a masters in Graphic Design with a focus on print in the digital age, Gym Class magazine is perfect. This is the final issue and the content is relevant to my research. It shows that even a great product struggles. Even if the independent magazine industry is keeping print alive, the lifespan of some magazines my not always be very long. A great read if you can get your hands on a copy.

Caitlin is obsessed with all things design. When she's not busy working on magazines and newspapers, she's juggling freelancing on the side and a masters degree. You'll likely find her in the gym or cooking up a storm in the kitchen when she manages to step away from the computer.
