Scandinavian Inspired Geometric Posters

2016 for graphic design has been heavily focused on the term modern retro – basically anything from the 1970s to the 1990s. You’ll notice that even interior design is going down the route of 1970s inspired Scandinavian living and the same is true for how graphic design has been approached this year.

One of the biggest influences of the modern retro vibe is geometric and isometric shapes. They are everywhere. Geometric shapes are popular tutorials to teach beginners how to use Illustrator, they create a clean and simplistic look to your designs, but they also give off this indie hipster chilled vibe. That’s what Scandinavian living is about right? Chilled back, folk music in the background and you look out on the mountains from your log cabin. Okay, that might be a stereotype or just my idyllic lifestyle choice but the geometric shape trend has flourished in the era of modern retro.

Today’s showcase is a celebration of all things geometric. You might not be out in the mountains but even you will find something calming about the patterns and the simplicity of the clean lines of these designs.

Caitlin is obsessed with all things design. When she's not busy working on magazines and newspapers, she's juggling freelancing on the side and a masters degree. You'll likely find her in the gym or cooking up a storm in the kitchen when she manages to step away from the computer.
