WHAT MAKES A SPORTS LOGO?

WHAT MAKES A SPORTS LOGO?

Every team needs a logo. It’s as simple as that. The logo acts as a branding tool which makes its way onto replica sports kits and other such affiliated merchandise.

Even if you don’t get to design for the big league teams there’s a whole host of options around to design for small local teams or even designing for a fictional team. There is a distinct style for sports logos that makes them iconic, functional and just beautiful to look at. Thick vector lines, bold colours, strokes, sharp edges, subtle highlights, a chunky font and some form of team mascot – all of these make up the skeleton of any good sports logo.

There are many designers worldwide who are smashing this niche of graphic design, and these are some of my favourites.

I love sports, I really do. But sometimes more than the sport itself I love the jerseys and the detail that goes into the embroidery of the logo. Here are two examples of logo concepts I’ve been working on for local team Hull Stingers that follows similar styles as the above with thick line work, minimal colour palatte and a nice chunky font.

Great and inspiring sports logo design! Simply loved it.

I am also looking for an eye-catching sports logo for my online sports and fitness blog. I am going to crowdsource it from Designhill. Let’s see how they gonna make it.
